Case Study / Veluxe Vein Clinic Website Design
This case study showcases the design and development of the Veluxe Vein Clinic website, focusing on user experience, brand consistency, and key integrations like Google Reviews and SEO to boost engagement and visibility.
Project Overview
The Veluxe Vein Clinic website is an elegant, user-friendly platform designed to inform potential patients about specialized vein care services. The website targets individuals experiencing venous disorders, caregivers seeking information for their loved ones, and healthcare professionals referring patients to the clinic.
Duration / May 2024 - August 2024
Problem Statement
Many individuals experiencing venous disorders struggle to find clear, accessible information about treatment options and clinics, leading to delays in seeking care and a lack of understanding of available services.
Goal Statement
The goal is to design an engaging, informative website for Veluxe Vein Clinic that effectively communicates the clinic’s services, improves patient engagement, and enhances online visibility through SEO optimization.
My Role
Lead UX Designer / I was responsible for overseeing the entire design process, from initial research to final mockups, ensuring a cohesive user experience.
Conducting user research and interviews / Creating wireframes and user flows / Developing prototypes for user testing / Designing visual elements and high-fidelity mockups / Collaborating with stakeholders for feedback and iteration
My Process
01 / User Reasearch
User research / Personas / Problem statements / User journey maps
User Research
User research involved qualitative interviews with potential patients and caregivers to understand their needs and experiences related to vein care. This included identifying their primary sources of information, pain points in accessing care, and preferences for website navigation and content.
User Pain Points
01 / Difficulty finding trustworthy information about venous disorders and treatment options.
02 / Frustration with complicated clinic websites that lack clear navigation.
03 / Anxiety about scheduling appointments and understanding treatment processes.
04 / Limited accessibility of services, particularly for individuals with mobility issues.
User Persona
Jessica, a 45-year-old corporate lawyer, is detail-focused and values efficiency. Long hours seated at work have raised concerns about her vein health.
Problem Statement
Jessica Clarke, a 45-year-old corporate lawyer who spends long hours at her desk, is concerned about her vein health. She struggles to find a clinic that provides clear information about treatments and is frustrated by overly complicated booking processes. She needs a clinic that offers an easy-to-navigate website, quick appointment booking, and reliable patient reviews to make informed decisions about her care.
User Journey Map
To find a reputable vein clinic and book an appointment with ease.
02 / Starting The Design
Paper wireframes / Digital wireframes / Low-fidelity prototype / Usability studies
Paper Wireframe
A simple layout focusing on essential navigation elements and service categories.
Goals / The goal for the paper wireframe was to ensure simple navigation with prominent CTAs for booking and reviewing treatments. I also aimed to prioritize key user actions such as finding reviews and booking appointments.
Digital Wireframe
Develop a more detailed digital wireframe that includes user interactions and content hierarchy.
Goals / For the digital wireframe, I focused on structuring content clearly, making sure that treatment descriptions, patient reviews, and booking options were easily accessible on the homepage.
Low-Fidelity Prototype
Incorporate feedback from wireframes to create a clickable prototype that simulates user interactions.
Goals / The low-fidelity prototype aimed to provide a functional flow where users could quickly navigate to treatment options and complete the booking process with minimal clicks.
Usability Study
After two rounds of testing, we implemented changes that significantly improved user satisfaction and increased overall conversion rates.
03 / Refining The Design
Mockups / High-fidelity prototype / Accessibility
Mockups
To better understand user needs, I conducted qualitative research through interviews and surveys with potential clients. This research aimed to uncover pain points related to existing vein clinic websites, service offerings, and booking experiences. Insights gathered from this research informed the design decisions and service offerings of Veluxe’s website.
High-Fidelity Mockups
Goals / Finalize the design for presentation and developer handoff, ensuring that all interactive elements are clearly defined.
Thought Process / Emphasized visual hierarchy and clear calls to action to enhance user engagement.
Accessibility
01 / Ensured text contrast with gold and dark colour pairings for readability.
02 / Incorporated alt text for images to enhance screen reader accessibility.
03 / Made sure the website was fully navigable by keyboard for users with disabilities.
04 / Going Forward
Takeaways / Next steps
Impact
The final design not only enhanced user engagement but also elevated the clinic’s brand as a premium, luxurious destination for vein health care. I learned the value of combining a rich, sophisticated visual aesthetic with clear, intuitive functionality, ensuring users don’t feel overwhelmed by design at the expense of usability.
Next Steps
Going forward / In future iterations, I plan to incorporate personalized content for returning users and further optimize the site's load time to match the luxurious experience with smooth performance. Additionally, I’ll explore integrating more video content, such as patient success stories, to add depth to the user experience.
